Upholsterer Job Description
Upholsters make furniture with soft, padded textile covering features, such as armchairs, sofas, bedheads and dining chairs.

The Work
 Measure and cut materials using manual or automated cutting instruments
 Strip upholstered furniture down to its wooden frame
 Cover wooden frame with soft materials such as felt pad, silicon padding and foam
 Work with tools and materials such as glue, staples, tacks and nail guns
 Secure work pieces and materials onto production equipment
 Dress the removable fabric covers on the upholstered frame.

Requirements – Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

 Education and Training: To become an upholsterer, we require training in a vocational
school that offers upholstery courses. In addition, a minimum of 3 years work
experience in similar position is required.
 Communication Skill: Upholsterers should be able to co-operate with their colleagues
and follow the guidelines of their supervisors.
 Language Skill: Fluent use of English language is required.
