Upholsterer Job Description
Upholsters make furniture with soft, padded textile covering features, such as armchairs, sofas, bedheads and dining chairs.
Measure and cut materials using manual or automated cutting instruments
Strip upholstered furniture down to its wooden frame
Cover wooden frame with soft materials such as felt pad, silicon padding and foam
Work with tools and materials such as glue, staples, tacks and nail guns
Secure work pieces and materials onto production equipment
Dress the removable fabric covers on the upholstered frame.
Requirements – Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Education and Training: To become an upholsterer, we require training in a vocational
school that offers upholstery courses. In addition, a minimum of 3 years work
experience in similar position is required.
Communication Skill: Upholsterers should be able to co-operate with their colleagues
and follow the guidelines of their supervisors.
Language Skill: Fluent use of English language is required.
